Brody Jewish Center - at the University of Virginia

Prospective Students

lawnThe Brody Jewish Center, Hillel at the University of Virginia, is the focal point of Jewish life for the 2,000 Jewish students on Grounds.  Building upon UVa’s strong tradition of student leadership, the Brody Jewish Center actively and successfully empowers Jewish students to create relevant and meaningful Jewish experiences that will inspire a lifelong commitment to the Jewish people.  The Brody Jewish Center is engaging more Jewish students than ever before through a broad range of activities and creative initiatives for social enjoyment, Jewish learning and community outreach.

Jewish life at the University of Virginia is flourishing.  With a strong Jewish Studies Program, kosher food in the dining halls, and the Brody Jewish Center serving as the catalyst for Jewish life on Grounds, Jewish life has never been stronger at UVa.  Students at UVa have the opportunity to engage in Jewish life through many varried and diverse avenues.

The Brody Jewish Center strives to create a warm and welcoming community for Jewish students on Grounds.  Each year, The Brody Jewish Center connects students to their community, their peers and their heritage through diverse array of programming. The Brody Jewish Center does not have members; all students are welcome to participate in all activities.

Whether it is through weekly Shabbat dinners with an average of 100 students attending each week, a free trip to Israel, social gatherings, interfaith dialogues, or volunteering at a local homeless shelter, there is a place for every student at the Brody Jewish Center.  With over 50 students serving in leadership roles, The Brody Jewish Center is truly an organization for students, run by students.

The Brody Jewish Center staff is always willing to speak with prospective students and their families.  We are always willing to meet with you while you are on Grounds and happy to arrange a meeting or an overnight with other Jewish students at UVa.  If interested in any of these possibilities, please contact Jenna Rabhan at 434.295.4963.
